Wilma Grandez and her family built a school for abused children in an area of extreme poverty outside of Lima in a district called Carabayllo. Wilma, who was also abused and neglected as a child, has tirelessly poured her love into these children for the last 22 years. The impact of the big school, with about 120 students, as well as 3 smaller schools, can be seen in the families in their communities. The moms receive teaching as well as physical, spiritual, and practical help.

 

At GEM, we have been supporting Wilma's schools and kids for many years and have seen firsthand her impact on countless children and their families. Upon visiting the school you can witness the children’s faces light up when Wilma shows up and the younger ones run to embrace her.
